Adult non-breeding: (shown below) Appearance is dark brown overall but in sunlight the body is shiny green, brown, and rusty colored. Red iris. Very long grey'ish down turned bill.

Adult breeding: Appearance is dark redd'ish overall but in sunlight the body is shiny red and green colored. Red face with a slinder white border. Very long grey down turned bill.
