Adult breeding: (shown below) Overall light brown with black barring and spotting all over. Dark eye line. VERY long slightly curved upward yellow bill with black tip. Long black legs.

Adult non-breeding: Overall light brown with black barring and spotting on back and wings only. Plain buffy head, neck, chest and underparts. Dark eye line. VERY long slightly curved upward pale pinkish bill with black tip. Long black legs.
