Adult: (shown below)Small hawk with stiff wingbeats. Grey cap extending downt he back fo the neck, back, wings, and tail. Light colored cheek extending down to an orange striped chest. Thick legs. Long tail with bands of alternating light and dark grey. Red eye.

Juvenile: Brown overall with a white chest with thin dark streaks. Thick legs. Long tail with bands of alternating light and dark grey.
